RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE WOMEN’S
VOLLEYBALL
GOES 1-2 AT RAMAPO INVITATIONAL |

The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team went 1-2 at the
Ramapo College Invitational on Friday, Sept. 28. |
|
|
|
The
Anchorwomen (9-8) fell to FDU-Florham (13-7), 3-1 (30-28, 21-30,
21-30, 24-30), in their first match of the evening.
FDU was led by Megan Droge (North Merrick, NY)
and Holly Farricy (Mills, MA) who each contributed 11 kills
in the win. Lauren Brazier (Stony Brook, NY) posted eight and
Kerry Kuperman (Scottsdale, AZ) recorded five, while dishing
out 28 assists for the team. Rhode Island College senior middle
blocker Kimiyo Garcia (Riverside, RI) led the team with 19
kills, 10 digs, and four aces, while senior hitter Sherri Heard
(Coventry, RI) recorded 11 kills and three assists in the loss.
Senior setter Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) contributed a team
high 25 assists. |

Rhode Island
College (10-8) downed Lycoming (3-16), 3-0 (31-29, 30-24, 30-24) in
the club’s second match. Sophomore outside hitter Sharon
Corriveau (Coventry, RI) led the team with 13 kills, while
Garcia and Heard posted 11 and 10, respectively. Senior Amy Souza
(Tiverton, RI) and freshman Nicky Enos (Coventry, RI)
split the setting duties combining for 38 assists in the win, while
Corriveau led the defense with 12 digs. Lycoming was led by
Kelly Rose (Wilkes Barre, PA) with eight kills, while Myers
dished out 19 assists in the loss. Myers also led the defense with
13 digs and Beth Machella (Mechanicsburg, PA) chipped in with
11. |

The
Anchorwomen (10-9) fell to host Ramapo (9-4), 3-2 (28-30, 22-30,
30-21, 30-21, 8-15) to wrap up the trip. Ramapo was led by
Maureen Hennecke (Fair Lawn, NJ) with 18 kills. Meagan Taege
(Manahawkin, NJ) recorded 10 and Ashley Cornett (Hawthorne,
NJ) contributed 36 assists in the win. Christine Simmons
(Upper Saddle, NJ) led the defense with 11 digs. Rhode Island’s
Garcia recorded 19 kills and Heard and Corriveau posted 11 and 10,
respectively. Souza dished out ten assists in the match. |
