Rhode Island College Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Starts Season at Husky Spring Open

Dedham, MA—The Rhode Island College women’s outdoor track and field team started the 2008 season at the Husky Spring Open, hosted by Northeastern at the Solomon Track. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

Sophomore Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) placed 10^th in the 100 meters (14.28), 11^th in the 200 meters (29.16) and third in the triple jump (9.61 meters)

Junior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) placed fifth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:07.08 and fourth in the high jump at 1.57 meters.

Freshman Jamie Nunes (Lincoln, RI) placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.43. Classmate Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) was fourth in the triple jump at 8.93 meters. Freshman Rachael Johnson (Wakefield, RI) placed sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:08.11.

Junior Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) was fifth in the weight throw at 42.07 meters. Sophomore Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) was 10^th in the discus and 11^th in the weight throw with efforts of 27.14 and 37.43 meters, respectively.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will hold its annual invitational on Saturday, Mar. 29.
