ANCHORWOMEN COME UP SHORT IN, 17-15,
OVERTIME LOSS TO SEAHAWKS |

NEWPORT,
R.I.-Freshman
attack Nicole Viola (Scarborough, ME) scored the game-tying
goal with 12 seconds left in regulation and then added an insurance
tally in the second overtime period as Salve Regina University
women's lacrosse edged Rhode Island College, 17-15, in non-league
action. |

Salve Regina (3-5) led, 14-9, with 16:00 left in the
second half before Rhode Island (0-4) dominated with six straight
goals. Viola's game-tying score came in the final minute after the
Seahawk defense made a game-saving turnover. |

|
|
During the Anchorwomen's six-goal flurry, freshman
attack Suany Almonte (Warwick, RI) scored twice and senior
defenseman Sydney Culbertson (North Kingstown, RI) registered
one of her three goals. Culbertson assisted on three of the goals
during that stretch and finished with a game-high six helpers. |

Viola and RIC sophomore attack Emily Conte (North
Providence, RI) led their respective teams in goals with five
apiece. Rhode Island enjoyed its largest lead (7-4) with 7:20
remaining in the first half after Conte's fourth goal. The Seahawks
kept Conte scoreless after the first half. |

losing effort. |
