Neece Earns Two More Wins as Win Streak Reaches 13 Games

Bristol, RI—The Rhode Island College
softball team swept a doubleheader from Roger Williams on Thursday
afternoon, taking both contests in five innings. Freshman pitcher
Melanie Neece (Westfield, MA) earned both wins, as the
Anchorwomen won game one, 10-1, and took the nightcap, 19-8. |

Neece hurled four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and
racking up six strikeouts in game one. She came on in relief in game
two, surrendering three runs on seven hits, to earn her 11th
win (11-1) of the season. |

RIC
freshman second baseman Amanda Perry (New Bedford, MA) went
2-for-3 with three RBI, while sophomore designated player Cassy
Taverna (Bedford, MA) went 2-for-2 with one RBI, in game one. |

|
The
top of the order dominated game two, going a combined 9-for-12 with
eight RBI and nine runs scored. Senior first baseman Christie
Lotti (Waterford, CT) went 4-for-5 with four runs scored. Perry
went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, while senior third
baseman Krystal Bilek (Fitchburg, MA) went 2-for-3 with a
game-high four RBI, three runs scored and a home run (1). Six
Anchorwomen recorded multiple-hit performances in the win. |

upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Little East
Conference rival UMass Boston on Friday, Apr. 11 at 3:30 p.m. |
