RUSHTON & O’CONNORS STOP
THREE-GAME LOSING STREAK
Anchormen Bounce Back
With, 8-1, Win at Framingham State

Framingham, MA—Rhode
Island College snapped a three-game losing skid with an 8-1 win over
Framingham State Thursday afternoon at Bowditch Field. Freshman
pitcher Rob Rushton (Freetown, MA) earned the win (4-0),
while junior right fielder Chris O’Connors (North Kingstown, RI)
went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. |

RIC (22-10)
came back from a 1-0 deficit in the top of the third with a five-run
outburst. With one down and the bases loaded, O’Connors delivered a
two-run single up the middle. Sophomore designated hitter Tim
Schabowski (Pascoag, RI) came up with the bases full with two
down and smacked a three-run double to put the game out of reach. |

RIC added insurance runs in the
seventh and eighth as Rushton allowed one unearned run on five hits,
while striking out four, in 6.1 innings. Sophomore relievers Paul
Vatter (Warwick, RI) and Bobby Venditto (Cranston, RI)
kept the Rams (6-20) off the scoreboard for the final 2.2. |

action, Rhode Island College will host Little East Conference foe
Western Connecticut on Saturday, Apr. 26 with a doubleheader
beginning at noon. |
