RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE MEN’S
TENNIS
PLACES SEVENTH AT LEC CHAMPIONSHIPS

|
Bridgewater, MA—Rhode
Island College placed seventh (seven teams) at the 2008 Little East
Conference Men’s Tennis Championships, hosted by Bridgewater State
on Apr. 25-26, with 6.5 points. Salem State won the title with 15
points. |

Senior Lorne Teeter (Warwick, RI) went 0-2 at
No. 1 singles |
|
|
|
Freshman Nathan Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) went
2-1 at No. 2 singles, dropping his opening match, but rebounding to
win the consolation round. |
|
|
|
Freshman Eric Boffa (Greenville, RI) went 1-1
at No. 3 singles, winning in the opening round before falling to the
eventual flight champion in the semifinals. |
|
|
|
Senior Richard Truchon (North Scituate, RI)
went 1-1 at No. 4 singles, upsetting the second seed in the opening
round before falling in the semifinals. |
|
|
|
Junior David Haggerty (Woonsocket, RI) went
1-1 at No. 5 singles, winning in the opening round, before falling
in the semifinals. |
|
|
|
Freshman Mike Aiello (Scituate, RI) went 1-2
at No. 6 singles, falling in the opening round, but rebounding to
make the flight consolation final. |
|
|
|
Boffa and senior Tom Lapierre (Mapleville, RI)
went 0-2 at No. 1 doubles. |
|
|
|
Rebello and Aiello went 1-1 at No. 2 doubles, winning
in the opening round, before falling in the semifinals. |
|
|
|
Teeter and Haggerty went 1-1 at No. 3 doubles,
winning in the opening round, before falling in the semifinals. |
|
|
|
Head Coach Joe Testa’s team finished the
regular season with a 6-7 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the
Little East Conference. |
