Anchorwomen Drop Season-Opener, 78-44, to Jumbos
Mullen’s 15 Points Leads RIC |

Beverly, Mass.—Tufts
University built an 18-point halftime lead and never looked back,
downing Rhode Island College, 78-44, in the opening round of the
Endicott Tip-Off Invitational Tournament. The Anchorwomen will face
Wilkes in the consolation game tomorrow afternoon. |

The Jumbos
placed four players in double figures as Khalilah Ummah
(Litchfield, ME) paced the Tufts’ offense with 15 points and
seven rebounds. Julia Baily (Farmington, CT) shot 6-of-11
from the field for 14 points. Junior center Katie Tausanovitch (Lyme,
NH) grabbed 12 rebounds and had eight points in the winning
effort. |

College was led by sophomore guard Alice Mullen’s (Saunderstown,
RI) 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting. RIC had no answers for the
Jumbos down low, as the Anchorwomen were out-rebounded, 54-20, and
out-scored, 30-8, in points in the paint. |
