SEASON-HIGH 15 TREYS PACES ANCHORMEN ATTACK
RIC Sweeps the Ocean State in, 76-57, Victory Over Hawks |

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College, playing its first game
in 24 days, took the lead, 23-21, with 8:07 remaining in the first
half and never looked back en route to a decisive, 76-57, win over
intra-state rival Roger Williams at The Murray Center on Monday
evening. |

The Anchormen
torched the Hawks’ defense from downtown, connecting on a
season-high 15 treys (15-for-27) and shooting 56 percent from behind
the three-point arc. RIC played stifling defense, holding RWU to
just 14 percent from long range (3-for-22). The Anchormen led by as
many as 26 points in the game. |

Rhode Island
College junior forward Kaseem Johnson (New Haven, CT) set the
tone early, posting 13 of his team-high 19 points in the first half.
He finished the game with 13 rebounds, shooting 8-for-12 from the
field, logging his third double-double of the season. |

|
Seven
different Anchormen connected on at least one three-pointer, paced
by junior guards Tirrell Hill (Bronx, NY) and Justin Lopez
(Providence, RI) who nailed four apiece. Hill posted 16 points,
Lopez chipped in with 12, while junior guard Bobby Bailey (Fall
River, MA) handed out a team-high five assists. |

Roger
Williams senior center Geoff Baranger (Fairfield, CT) matched
his season-high with a game-high 25 points to go along with seven
rebounds. He shot 10-for-14 from the field, while the rest of the
Hawks shot just 26 percent (12-46). |

With the win,
Rhode Island College has defeated each of its Div. III counterparts
from the Ocean State, having already registered wins over Johnson &
Wales and Salve Regina. |

In upcoming
action, Rhode Island College will host Framingham State on Thursday,
Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. The Hawks will host UMass Dartmouth on Thursday,
Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. |
