RIC DEFEATS PLYMOUTH STATE, 74-63
Gray’s 13 Points Help Anchormen Stay Unbeaten in LEC Play |
Plymouth, NH—Rhode Island College freshman guard Antone
Gray (Providence, RI) scored a career-high 13 points to lead the
Anchormen past Plymouth State, 74-63, Saturday afternoon at Foley
Gymnasium. |
The Anchormen
used a balanced offensive attack to improve to 11-2 overall and 3-0
in the Little East Conference. The Anchormen have won three straight
games and eight of their last nine. The Panthers fall to 3-10
overall and remain winless with a 0-3 mark in league play. |
In addition
to Gray, junior guard Tirrell Hill (Bronx, NY) added
12 points, while junior guard Bobby Bailey (Fall River,
MA) and freshman guard Anthony Fortes (East
Providence, RI) contributed 11 points apiece. |
Sophomore
Jason O’Keefe (Everett, MA) led all scorers with 23
points for Plymouth State, connecting on 4-of-10 from three-point
range. Junior Ben Huntington (Hampstead, NH) was the only
other Panther to reach double figures in scoring, finishing with 11
points. |
The Anchormen
led wire to wire, maintaining a double-digit advantage most of the
game. Trailing 39-25 at the half, the Panthers got as close as eight
points (48-40) with 14 minutes left in the second half, but RIC
scored the next nine points to push the margin back up to 17 and PSU
couldn’t mount a challenge the rest of the way. |

In upcoming
action, Rhode Island College will travel to Southern Maine on
Tuesday, Jan. 15, while the Panthers head to UMass Boston. |
