BROWN TAKES TWO AT SEASON-OPENING MEET

            Providence, RI—Brown University opened the 2007-08 season by winning two matches at a tri-meet hosted by Rhode Island College at The Murray Center on Sunday afternoon. The Bears (2-0) posted a team score of 178.075, while M.I.T. (1-1) logged a score of 175.100 and RIC (0-2) rounded out the trio at 161.200.

M.I.T. junior Julia Zimmerman (Chicago, IL) had an outstanding meet, placing first on vault (9.450), beam (9.275), floor (9.550) and in the all-around (36.575). Teammate senior Sophia Harrison (Laguna Hills, CA) placed second on vault (9.350) and in the all-around (36.200), while ranking third on beam (9.200).

Brown freshman Vicky Zanelli (Katy, TX) posted a match-high score of 9.500 on bars.

Rhode Island College freshman Robyn Albert (Sharon, MA) led RIC on vault (8.850), bars (8.000), floor (9.05) and in the all-around (33.550).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at M.I.T. on Saturday, Jan. 19. Brown will compete at Cal State Fullerton with U.C.L.A. on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.
