Rhode Island
College controlled the tempo in the first half, allowing the
high-powered Huskies’ offense only four second-chance opportunities
while causing 10 Southern Maine turnovers. The Anchorwomen ran an
efficient offensive set, forcing the hosts to commit nine personal
fouls. The visitors were able to capitalize from the charity stripe,
knocking down 84.6 percent (11-13) led by Martin’s 6-for-6 showing.
Rhode Island College entered the intermission trailing by just one
possession, 33-31. |

Southern
Maine put the game out of reach early in the second half, scoring 11
consecutive points to build a double-digit advantage. Junior guard
Stacey Kent (Northwood, N.H.) keyed the surge with seven
points of her 10 points. The Huskies would not let her lead dip
below double figures as they out scored the Anchormen by 25 points
in the final frame. |
