LOPARDO AND WILLETT EARN ALL-NEW
ENGLAND HONORS AT INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Medford,
MA—Rhode
Island College junior Dante Lopardo (Johnston, RI) and
sophomore Max Willett (Portsmouth, RI) each garnered All-New
England honors at the N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by Tufts
on Saturday, Feb. 23. |
|
|
|
|
|
Lopardo earned All-New England honors in both the
high and long jumps, placing sixth and eighth with efforts of 1.87
and 6.42 meters, respectively. |

Willett
earned All-New England honors in the high jump, placing third with a
1.92-meter effort. He also placed 17th in the long jump
with a leap of 5.96 meters. |

Senior
Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) placed ninth in the 600 meters with
a time of 1:23.68. Junior Hunter Stewart (Foster, RI) placed
21st in the same event with a time of 1:26.85. |

Head Coach
Kevin Jackson’s team tied for 17th place (25 teams)
with a score of 10.0. Tufts won the meet with a team score of 118.
In upcoming action, RIC will compete at the New England Open
Championships, hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday,
Feb. 29-Mar. 1. |
