Rhode
Island College Names Norm Worthington
Assistant Baseball Coach
|

|
Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College has named Norm Worthington as an assistant
baseball coach. He will primarily serve as the team’s pitching
coach. He will assist Head Coach Jay Grenier with all phases
of the RIC baseball program, including recruiting, scouting,
administering practice and game coaching. |
|
|
|
“I am looking forward to working with the team and
competing against my alma mater Eastern Connecticut in the very
competitive Little East Conference,” Worthington said. “I hope to
help the Anchormen take the next step and compete for a title in the
near future.” |

|
Worthington has a wealth of coaching experience,
which includes stops as the pitching coach at the University of
Rhode Island, as well as, La Salle Academy and South Kingstown High
School. |
|
|
|
He was a standout pitcher at Eastern Connecticut
State University from 1986-90. During his four years as a Warrior,
Worthington appeared in 48 games, starting 41 of them. He owns a
26-9 record to go along with a 3.39 ERA and 158 strikeouts in 273.1
innings pitched. Eastern Connecticut went to the NCAA Tournament in
each of his four years, culminating with a National Championship in
1990. The Narragansett, Rhode Island native remains fourth all-time
at ECSU in starts, innings pitched and complete games, while ranking
sixth in wins. |

Worthington earned a bachelor’s degree in business
administration from Eastern Connecticut in 1990. He minored in
athletic coaching. |
|
|
|
He resides in South Kingstown, Rhode Island with his
wife Raylene and their two sons Jared (14) and Ryan (11). |
