WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES 27^th at
UMASS DARTMOUTH INVITATIONAL

North Dartmouth, MA—The Rhode Island College women’s cross country team opened the 2008 season at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Anchorwomen placed 27^th (41 teams) with a score of 786. MIT won the meet with a score of 67.

Freshman Jacqueline Towle (Swanzey, NH) was RIC’s top runner, placing 119^th with a time of 20:42. Freshman Brittany Richer (Woonsocket, RI) placed 145^th with a time of 21:01. Sophomore Katie Desrosiers (Warwick, RI) placed 186^th with a time of 21:39. Sophomore Heather Feeney (Warwick, RI) placed 197^th with a time of 21:46. Sophomore Lindsey Brisson (Coventry, RI) placed 219^th with a time of 22:11. Junior Ashley Guimond (Sterling, CT) placed 229^th with a time of 22:28. Sophomore Nicole Poirier (Concord, NH) placed 247^th with a time of 22:53.

In the women’s sub-varsity race, freshman Justyna Barlow (Foster, RI) placed 131^st with a time of 24:03, while senior captain Hannah Clark (Attleboro, MA) placed 146^th with a time of 24:36.

In upcoming action, RIC will host its annual Ray Dwyer Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Community College of Rhode Island (Lincoln).
