NAMED LITTLE EAST MEN’S SOCCER CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

freshman forward Bruno Costa
(Pawtucket, RI) was named the Little East Conference Men’s
Soccer Rookie of the Week in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen. |

Costa, who was named the LEC’s
Co-Offensive Player of the Week last week, shares this week’s honors
with Eastern Connecticut freshman goalkeeper Carl Appel. |

|
|
Costa penned three goals in his ledger this past
week, which helped the Anchormen raise their unbeaten streak to five
games and earn their first Little East win (1-0) of the season. He
netted a pair of goals in a victory at LEC foe UMass Boston on Sept.
20. Earlier in the week, Costa headed in the game-winner in the 111th
minute to lift Rhode Island College to a 3-2 double overtime win
against Coast Guard on Sept. 16. For the season, he has played in
eight games, starting seven of them, totaling five goals and three
assists for 13 points. Costa has three of the Anchormen’s four
game-winning goals on the season. |

Head Coach John Mello’s team
is 4-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Little East. In upcoming action, RIC
will play at Bridgewater State on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 3:30 p.m. |
