2001-02 Season Summary
(5-20 Overall, 2-12 in the
Little East) |

Head
Coach Mike Kelley’s (Career Record: 36-64) team finished the
2001-02 season with a 5-20 overall record and a 2-12 mark in the
Little East Conference. |
|
Senior
guard Pamela Kelly (West Hartford, CT) concluded her two-year
career at Rhode Island College with 64 points, 28 rebounds, 12 assists
and 17 steals. Prior to coming to RIC, Kelly played one season at
American International College. |
|
As
a senior in 2001-02, Kelly played in 24 games, starting two of them.
The co-captain averaged 1.7 points, 1.0 rebounds and 0.6 steals per
game on the season. She scored a career-high six points in her final
home game on Feb. 12 vs. UMASS-Dartmouth. She tallied five points and
grabbed a career-high three rebounds in the final game of her
collegiate career on Feb 16 vs. Plymouth State. |

As
a junior in 2000-01, Kelly played in 18 games. She averaged 1.3 points
and 0.5 rebounds per game. She scored a season-high four points vs.
UMASS-Dartmouth. She grabbed a season-high two rebounds in a game
twice, vs. La Verne and UMASS-Dartmouth. |
|
As
a sophomore in 1999-00, she played in eight games at AIC totaling six
points, three rebounds and one assist. |
|
She
is a psychology major and a 1998 graduate of Conard High School. |
|
Senior
forward Melanie Wolf (Gorham, NH) concluded her three-year
career at Rhode Island College with 143 points, 172 rebounds, 30
assists and 37 steals. Prior to coming to RIC, Wolf attended Elon
College for one year, but did not play basketball. |
|
As
a senior in 2001-02, Wolf played in 25 games, starting all of them.
The co-captain averaged 3.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.8 steals per
game on the season. Wolf recorded 11 points vs. Salve Regina on Nov.
20. She tallied ten points in the final game of her collegiate career
on Feb. 16 vs. Plymouth State. She grabbed a career-high eight
rebounds in both contests vs. Keene State (Dec. 15 and Feb. 2). |

As
a junior in 2000-01, Wolf played in 24 games, starting four of them.
She averaged 1.0 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. She scored a
season-high three points vs. Roger Williams and grabbed a season-high
five rebounds twice vs. Salve Regina and SJC-Patchogue. |
|
As
a sophomore in 1999-00, Wolf played in each of the team’s 25 games.
She averaged 1.4 points, 1.4 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 0.4 steals per
game. She scored a season-high five points with three boards and two
assists against Pine Manor. |

She
is a social work major and a 1998 graduate of Gorham High School. |
|
Junior
guard Alicia Hersperger (Providence, RI) played in 18 games.
She averaged 0.6 points and 0.8 rebounds per game on the season.
Hersperger matched her career-high of four points vs. Roger Williams
on Nov. 29 and again on Feb. 16 vs. Plymouth State. |

Sophomore
guard Abby Ferri (Greene, RI) played in 25 games, starting one
of them. She averaged 3.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.5
steals per game on the season. Ferri pulled down a career-high 12
rebounds vs. Johnson & Wales on Dec. 11. She scored nine points
and notched six rebounds vs. Eastern Connecticut on Jan. 19. |

Sophomore
guard Katie Hansen (Narragansett, RI) played in 25 games,
starting 24 of them. She averaged 8.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, a
team-high 2.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game on the season. Hansen
tallied a career-high 21 points and grabbed six rebounds vs. UMASS-Dartmouth
on Feb. 12. She recorded a team-high 18 points and four steals vs.
Pine Manor on Dec. 4. She dished out a career-high seven assists vs.
Roger Williams on Nov. 29. |

Sophomore
guard Tara Mekuto (Providence, RI) played in 23 games, starting
three of them. She averaged 2.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.6 steals
per game on the season. Mekuto scored a career-high seven points vs.
Keene State on Feb. 2. She recorded a career-high five rebounds vs.
Wesleyan on Nov. 27 and again on Dec. 11 vs. Johnson & Wales. |

Sophomore
guard Angela Sarette (Putnam, CT) played in 25 games, starting
15 of them. She averaged a team-high 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 0.7
assists, 0.6 blocks and a team-high 2.4 steals per game on the season.
Sarette scored a team-high 22 points and recorded career-highs of 11
rebounds and six steals vs. Warner Southern on Dec. 31. She
established a new career-high with 23 points vs. Southern Maine on
Feb. 9. Sarette notched 19 points, ten rebounds and six steals in the
season finale on Feb. 16 vs. Plymouth State. |

Sophomore
forward Elizabeth Shields (Warwick, RI) played in 25 games,
starting all of them. She averaged 8.9 points, a team-high 5.7
rebounds, 1.4 assists, a team-high 0.8 blocks and 1.6 steals per game
on the season. Shields recorded team-highs of 16 points and nine
rebounds vs. UMASS-Dartmouth on Jan. 22. She tallied 14 points and
grabbed nine rebounds in the home season finale vs. UMASS-Dartmouth on
Feb. 12. |

Sophomore
guard Monyca Vickers (Mattapoisett, MA) played in 19 games,
starting seven of them. She averaged 5.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.4
assists and 1.2 steals per game on the season. Vickers set
career-highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds vs. Coast Guard on Nov. 18.
She dished out a career-high five assists vs. Emerson on Jan. 30. |

Freshman
guard Becca Bissonnette (Danielson, CT) played in 23 games,
starting all of them. She averaged 6.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.7
assists per game on the season. Bissonnette scored a career-high 19
points vs. UMASS-Boston on Dec. 8. She recorded 11 points and a
career-high 16 rebounds vs. UMASS-Dartmouth on Jan. 22. Bissonnette
notched a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds vs. Keene State
on Dec. 15. |

Freshman
forward Elizabeth Valeika (Woonsocket, RI) played in 14 games
on the season. She averaged 0.1 points and 0.6 rebounds per game on
the season. She grabbed a career-high three rebounds vs. Western
Connecticut on Feb. 5. She scored her first career basket on Feb. 9
vs. Southern Maine. |
