McCalligett and Pora to Captain Rhode Island College
Women’s Outdoor Track and Field |

Providence, RI— Rhode
Island College freshman Katherine McCalligett (Warwick, RI) and
junior Joanne Pora (Attleboro, MA) will captain the women’s
outdoor track and field team for the 2002 season. |
|
|
|
McCalligett is coming off
an outstanding freshman indoor season which saw her earn All-New
England honors, placing seventh in the 400 meters with a school record
time of 1:00.37. McCalligett earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in
both the 200 and 400 meters. She placed second in the 400 meters with
a time of 1:00.73 and third in the 200 meters with a season-best time
of 27.25. |

She is a nursing major and
a 2001 graduate of Pilgrim High School. |

|
|
During the 2001-02 indoor
season, Pora placed sixth in the weight throw at the Brandeis
Invitational on Jan. 19 with a season-best distance of 37’05.25".
She also recorded a season-best throw of 28’11.75" in the shot
at the same meet. |

|
During the 2001 outdoor
campaign, Pora placed seventh in both the hammer throw and the javelin
with distances of 111’10.00" and 97’03.00" respectively
at the Alliance Championships. Her mark in the javelin was a
season-best throw for her. Pora placed fifth in the hammer at 113’00.00",
a season-best performance, and eighth in the javelin at 93’09.00"
at the Silfen Invitational. |
