Shannock’s Rachael Caldwell Earns Little East
Conference Softball Rookie of the Week Honors |

Providence, RI— Rhode
Island College freshman Rachael Caldwell (Shannock, RI) was
named the Little East Conference’s Rookie of the Week for her
performance in softball last week. |
|
|
|
Caldwell had six hits,
including a double and a triple in 12 at-bats for a .500 batting
average to help the Anchorwomen to post a 3-1 mark in four games. She
was a perfect 3-3 with two runs and two RBI in RIC’s 8-0 win over
LEC rival Keene State on Mar. 30. |

|
|
She has played in 11 games,
starting ten of them. She is batting .400 with five runs, 14 hits, two
doubles and eight RBI. She is an outfielder/catcher. |

|
|
Caldwell is a physical
education/health major and is a 2001 graduate of Chariho High School. |

Head Coach Maria Morin’s
Anchorwomen are 8-3 overall and 1-1 in the Little East Conference. RIC
won its first two games of the week sweeping Salve Regina on Monday,
Mar. 25, taking both games of the doubleheader 5-0 and 3-1. The
Anchorwomen saw their first Little East action of the season on
Saturday, Mar. 30 against Keene State. RIC shut out Keene State in the
first game of the doubleheader 8-0, but the Owls came back to take the
second game, shutting the Anchorwomen out 5-0. |
