Michele Fanelli Earns Little
East Conference Softball Player of the Week Honors |
|
|
|
Providence, RI— Rhode
Island College junior Michele Fanelli (Pembroke Pines, FL) was
named the Little East Conference’s Player of the Week for her
performance in softball last week. |
|
|
|
Fanelli, a first baseman,
batted .600 (9-15) with three runs scored, seven RBI, two doubles and
a triple in a 4-0 week for the Anchorwomen. She went 7-8 with five
RBI, a double, triple and a run scored in two wins over LEC rival
Southern Maine. |
|
|
|
For the season, Fanelli has
played in 15 games, starting all of them. She is batting .474 with 13
runs, 27 hits, five doubles, two triples and 20 RBI. She is second in
the LEC in hits and RBI, and is fourth in batting. |

|
She is a communications
major and a 1999 graduate of Cooper City High School (FL). |

Head Coach Maria Morin’s
Anchorwomen are 12-3 overall and 3-1 (first place tie) in the Little
East Conference. RIC won all four of its contests this past week. The
Anchorwomen shutout Babson College 2-0 on Apr. 2. RIC defeated
Worcester State 8-1 at home on Apr. 3. In Little East action, the
Anchorwomen swept Southern Maine on Apr. 6 (4-2, 6-2). |
