7-22 Overall Record; 0-10 in
the Little East Conference |
|
Head Coach Jay Grenier’s
Anchormen are 7-22 overall and 0-10 in the Little East Conference. RIC
went 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the LEC last week. The Anchormen fell to
UMASS-Dartmouth 7-2 on Apr. 16, but bounced back to defeat Wentworth
6-1 on Apr. 18. |

The following day on Apr.
19, RIC lost to Wheaton College 12-2. The Anchormen closed out the
week against LEC foe Plymouth State on Apr. 20. RIC lost both games of
the doubleheader 13-6 and 12-8. |

Senior right fielder Russ
Barron (Cranston, RI) has played in 29 games, starting all of
them. He is batting .336 with 18 runs, 38 hits, 11 doubles, one
triple, three home runs, 21 RBI and two stolen bases. |

Senior catcher/designated
hitter Sean McNamara (Warwick, RI) has played in 23 games,
starting 20 of them. He is batting .218 with 12 runs, 17 hits, five
doubles, five RBI and one stolen base. |

basemen/shortstop Mike Luke (Cranston, RI) has played in 23
games, starting 22 of them. He is batting .195 with 15 runs, 16 hits,
two doubles, one home run, nine RBI and three stolen bases. Luke has
been hit by a pitch 13 times this season, setting a RIC single season
record. He trails all-time leader Andy Barron ’01 by one for
the RIC career record. |

Milano (Johnston, RI) has appeared in seven games, starting five
of them. He is 1-4 with a 6.48 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 33.1 innings
pitched. |

two hits and one RBI. |

The Anchorwomen played four
games last week, all against LEC opposition. The team split a
doubleheader with UMASS-Dartmouth on Apr. 16 (2-0, 0-2). The loss
snapped a seven-game winning streak. RIC was shut out by Plymouth
State in both games of a doubleheader on Apr. 20 by a score of 2-0 in
both contests. |

them. She is batting .400 with one run, two hits and an RBI. |

RIC went 1-1 last week,
defeating Southern Maine 5-4 in overtime on Apr. 18. It was the
program’s second win ever as a varsity sport. RIC lost to Plymouth
State 16-0 on Apr. 20. Both contests were conference matches. |

of them. She has 13 goals for 13 points, six ground balls and three
draw controls. |

controls. Hughey scored the game-winning goal in overtime against
