9-23 Overall Record; 2-10 in
the Little East Conference |
|
Head Coach Jay Grenier’s
Anchormen are 9-23 overall and 2-10 in the Little East Conference. RIC
went 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the LEC last week. The Anchormen fell
short against perennial powerhouse Wheaton 6-4 on Apr. 24, but picked
up their first conference wins with a sweep over UMass-Boston on Apr.
27. The Anchormen took game one 11-1 and won the second 10-8. |

Senior right fielder Russ
Barron (Cranston, RI) has played in 32 games, starting all of
them. He is batting .323 with 20 runs, 40 hits, 11 doubles, one
triple, four home runs, 22 RBI and two stolen bases. |

Senior catcher/designated
hitter Sean McNamara (Warwick, RI) has played in 25 games,
starting 22 of them. He is batting .233 with 14 runs, 20 hits, six
doubles, five RBI and one stolen base. |

hitter Dave Quaglia (Attleboro, MA) has played in 32 games,

Glenn Dusablon (North Smithfield, RI) has appeared in eight
games, starting six of them. He is 3-2 with a 4.75 ERA and 30
strikeouts in 41.2 innings pitched. As a hitter, he has played in 17
games, starting ten of them. He is batting .302 with eight runs, 13
hits, one double, one home run, two RBI and one stolen base. |

Freshman second
basemen/shortstop Mike Luke (Cranston, RI) has played in 26
games, starting 24 of them. He is batting .211 with 18 runs, 19 hits,
two doubles, one home run, 11 RBI and three stolen bases. Luke has
been hit by a pitch 13 times this season, setting a RIC single season
record. He trails all-time leader Andy Barron ’01 by one for
the RIC career record. |

Freshman pitcher Jim
Milano (Johnston, RI) has appeared in eight games, starting five
of them. He is 1-5 with a 6.82 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 34.1 innings
pitched. |

Freshman infielder Anthony
Pacitto (Johnston, RI) has played in seven games. He has one run,
two hits and one RBI. |

Freshman third basemen Chris
Smaldone (Johnston, RI) has played in 29 games, starting 27 of
them. He is batting .265 with 14 runs, 26 hits, three doubles, one
triple, nine RBI and two stolen bases. |

In upcoming action, RIC
will host Coast Guard on May 1 and travel to Johnson & Wales on
the following day. The Anchormen conclude the regular season with a
doubleheader vs. Western Connecticut at home on May 4. |

Anchorwomen are 22-10 overall and 7-7 in the Little East Conference. |

The Anchorwomen went 2-3
last week. RIC was swept by LEC rival Western Connecticut (2-1, 7-0)
on Apr. 23. The team defeated Roger Williams 3-2 on Apr. 25 before
splitting the regular season finale with LEC opponent Eastern
Connecticut on Apr. 27. The Anchorwomen dropped the first game 7-1,
but came back to win the second 3-2. |

Leighton (Providence, RI) has played in 22 games, starting 19 of
them. She is batting .400 with one run, two hits and an RBI. |

Fanelli (Pembroke Pines, FL) has played in 30 games, starting all

Anchorwomen are 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the Little East Conference. |

RIC went 0-2 last week,
falling to conference rivals Western Connecticut and Eastern
Connecticut. The Anchorwomen lost to Western Connecticut 19-4 on Apr.
25 and fell 22-5 to Eastern Connecticut on Apr. 27. |

Anchormen competed at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance
Championships, hosted by Westfield State on Apr. 27. The Anchormen
finished tied for eighth (ten teams) with 18 points for the meet and
were fourth (five teams) in the Little East. |

(Barrington, RI) placed 15th in the 400 meters with a
time off 1:03.44 and 19th in the long jump with a distance
of 14’03.00". |

Junior Mike Daniels
(Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 800
meters, placing fourth with a time of 1:58.33. Daniels also placed 20th
in the javelin with a distance of 123’0.2". |

distance of 105’03.20". |

(Providence, RI) placed seventh in the 200 meters with a time of

Anchorwomen competed at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance

teams) in the Little East. |

(Providence, RI) placed eighth in the hammer with a distance of
121’9" and 14th in the discus with a distance of 81’5". |

Senior Joyelle Galli
(Exeter, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in both the
triple and long jump, placing third with a distance of 32’9.75"
in the triple and fifth with a distance of 14’9.25" in the
long. Galli also placed ninth in the 100 meters with a time of 14.15. |

(Cranston, RI) placed 14th in the 1500 meters with a
time of 5:36.40. |

the 10,000 meters, placing third with a time of 43:24.21. |

hammer, placing sixth with a distance of 127’02.70". Fenton
also placed 11th in the shot with a distance of 29’01.75". |

Gardiner (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in
the triple jump, placing fourth with a distance of 32’07.50". |

Freshman Jessica Leonard
(Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the
hammer, placing fourth with a distance of 136’06.00". Leonard
also placed 16th in both the shot and the discus with
distances of 25’05.00" and 78’09.50" respectively. |

Freshman Rolanda Mangum
(Providence, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the
hammer, placing first with a distance of 151’00.70". Mangum
also placed 18th in the discus with a distance of 76’08.25"
Mangum is a NCAA Provisional Qualifier in the hammer. |

Freshman Katherine
McCalligett (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors
in both the 200 meters and 400 meters, placing first in the 400 meters
with a time of 1:00.45 and third in the 200 meters with a time of
27.32. |
