Men’s and Women’s Track
and Field to Compete
at New England Championships |
|

|
Providence, RI— The
Rhode Island College men’s and women’s outdoor track and field
teams will compete at the New England Division III Championships on
Saturday, May 4. The men will compete at Williams College and the
women will compete at Springfield College. The men’s team had two
individual competitors and one relay team qualify, while the women’s
team has four individual qualifiers. |

On the men’s side, junior
Tim Rudd (Warwick, RI) will compete in the 1,500 meters.
Rudd earned All-Alliance/Little East honors last weekend with a third
place finish in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:05.34. The other
individual competitor is junior Mike Daniels (Warwick, RI), who
will compete in the 800 meters. Daniels earned All-Alliance/Little
East honors in the 800 meters, placing fourth with a time of 1:58.33.
Also competing at the New England Championships will be the 4 X 100
meter relay team of sophomore Charles Kuti (Providence, RI),
junior Charm Howie (Providence, RI), freshman German Cardona
(Pawtucket, RI) and freshman Chris Fernandes
(Cumberland, RI). |

On the women’s side, the
Anchorwomen have two qualifiers in the hammer throw, freshmen Rolanda
Mangum (Providence, RI) and Jessica Leonard (Warwick, RI).
Mangum earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the hammer throw,
taking first place in last weekend’s competition with a distance of
151’00.70". Leonard also earned All-Alliance/Little East
honors, placing fourth with a distance of 136’06.00". Freshman Katherine
McCalligett (Warwick, RI) will compete in two events, the 200 and
400 meters. McCalligett earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in both
of those events, placing first in the 400 meters with a time of
1:00.45 and third in the 200 meters with a time of 27.32. Sophomore Michelle
Boudreau (Lincoln, RI) will compete in the 10,000 meters after
earning All-Alliance/Little East honors in that event, placing third
with a time of 43:24.21. |
