Softball
Qualifies for ECAC Tournament |

Providence, RI— The
Rhode Island College softball team has qualified for the Eastern
College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament. The Anchorwomen are the
sixth seed and will play at third-seeded Coast Guard on Wednesday, May
8 at 4:30 p.m. |
|
|
|
This is the second ECAC
berth for RIC Head Coach Maria Morin, whose team last qualified
for the tourney during the 1999 campaign. RIC is currently 25-12
overall. The Anchorwomen defeated Eastern Connecticut 2-1 in the first
round of the Little East Conference Tournament on Apr. 30, only to be
ousted in the semi-finals with a 2-1 loss to Western Connecticut and a
3-0 loss to Plymouth State on May 3. |

appeared in 25 games, starting 22 of them. She is 14-8 with a 1.02
ERA, 20 complete games, seven shutouts, and 134 strikeouts in 151.2
innings. As a hitter, she has played in 30 games, starting 26 of them.
She is batting .185 with eight runs, 15 hits, two doubles, four
triples, ten RBI and two stolen bases. |

Caldwell (Shannock, RI) has played in 35 games, starting 34 of
them. She is batting .314 with 12 runs, 32 hits, nine doubles, one
