Rhode Island College Women’s Tennis Update #2

(2-3 Overall; 1-0 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kelly Lange’s Anchorwomen are 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the Little East Conference. In action last week, fell to Johnson and Wales, 5-4, on Tuesday, Sept. 16, but rebounded to gain a 6-3 LEC win over Plymouth State on Saturday, Sept. 20.

Senior Carminda Rocha (East Providence, RI) is 2-1 (.667) in singles and 1-2 (.333) in doubles for 2.5 points on the season. Rocha went undefeated at both number two singles and doubles, earning Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honors for her efforts.

Sophomore co-captain Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) is 3-2 (.600) in singles and 3-2 (.600) in doubles for 4.5 points on the season.

Junior co-captain Meghan Mooney (North Scituate, RI) is 2-3 (.400) in singles and 3-2 (.600) in doubles for 3.5 points on the season.

Senior Kristin Mandsager (Portsmouth, RI) is 3-0 (1.000) in singles and 2-0 (1.000) in doubles for 4.0 points on the season.

Freshman Caitlin Morin (Westerly, RI) is 1-3 (.250) in singles and 2-2 (.500) in doubles for 2.0 points on the season. For her performance last week, Morin was named Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Freshman Tara Marchant (North Scituate, RI) is 1-4 (.200) in singles and 1-3 (.250) in doubles for 1.5 points on the season.

Freshman Korrie Hird (North Providence, RI) is 1-2 (.333) in singles and 0-2 (.000) in doubles for 1.0 point on the season.

Freshman Heidi Beauregard (Cumberland, RI) is 1-0 (1.000) in doubles for 0.5 points on the season.

Freshman Kerri Giorgio (Saunderstown, RI) is 0-1 (.000) in singles and 1-0 (1.000) in doubles for 0.5 points on the season.

Freshman Caitlyn Lowman (Narragansett, RI) is 1-1 (.500) in doubles for 0.5 points on the season.

Freshman Maggie Wenc (Pawtucket, RI) is 1-0 (1.000) in doubles for 0.5 points on the season.

Senior Ashley Foster (Jamestown, RI) is 0-1 (.000) in singles for 0.0 points on the season.

In upcoming action, RIC will travel to Wentworth on Monday, Sept. 22 and Castleton State College on Friday, Sept. 26, before hosting the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.
