Providence, RI—Head
Coach Kelly Lange’s
(Career Record: 20-9, .690) team finished the 2003 campaign with an
11-4 (.733) overall mark and captured the 2003 Little East Conference
Championship, hosted by Plymouth State on Oct. 17-18, by placing first
with 20.0 points. Southern Maine finished second (16.0), Western
Connecticut third (9.0), Plymouth State fourth (8.0), UMass-Dartmouth
fifth (6.5) and UMass-Boston sixth (3.0).

|
It was the
fifth Little East title for the Anchorwomen, the first for Lange as a
coach, and RIC’s third in the last five seasons. RIC has captured LEC
titles in 1994, 1995, 1999, 2001 and 2003. The Anchorwomen were also
the Little East regular season champions, posting an undefeated mark
of 5-0 in conference dual match action. Lange ’98 was a member of two
LEC Championship teams while competing for the Anchorwomen tennis team
in 1994 and 1995 under then Head Coach Dick Ernst. |

Senior
Carminda Rocha (East Providence, RI) closed out her collegiate
career as the Little East Conference Champion at number two singles.
Rocha won five LEC titles during her illustrious career. She was the
LEC Champion at number four singles as a freshman and sophomore (1999
& 2000) and at number two singles as a junior (2001). Rocha also
shared the LEC Champion title at number two doubles as a sophomore
(2000). |

She owns a
54-10-1 (.838) career singles mark and a 45-16 (.738) career doubles
mark for 77.0 career points. Rocha is RIC’s all-time leader in career
singles wins and points. She is third in career doubles victories and
fifth in career singles winning percentage. She is tied for eighth
all-time in career doubles winning percentage. |

|
As a senior
in 2003, Rocha was the Little East Conference Champion at number two
singles. She was 12-1 (.923) mark at number two singles and 9-3 (.750)
at number two doubles. Rocha was tied for the team lead in singles
victories and was third in both doubles wins and points. |
|
|
|
Rocha
redshirted the 2002 season. As a junior in 2001, she was the Little
East Conference Champion at number two singles. She was 15-2 (.882) at
number two singles and 13-4 (.765) at number one doubles for a team
high 21.5 points on the season. Rocha led the team in points and
singles wins and was tied for first in doubles wins. |

As a
sophomore in 2000, she was the Little East Conference Champion at
number four singles and number two doubles. She posted a record of
12-4-1 (.750) at number two singles and was 12-4 (.750) at number two
doubles for 18.5 points. Rocha was tied for second on the team in
singles victories. She was second in doubles victories and points. |

|
As a
freshman in 1999, Rocha was the Little East Conference Champion at
number four singles. She posted a 15-3 (.833) record at number four
singles and an 11-5 (.688) mark at number two doubles for 20.5 points
on the year. Rocha was third on the team in singles victories and
points. She was tied for fourth on the team in doubles victories. |

She is a
music education major and a 1999 graduate of East Providence High
School. |

|
|
Senior
Kristin Mandsager (Portsmouth, RI) closed out her collegiate
career as the Little East Conference Champion as number six singles.
She owns a 21-10 (.677) career singles mark and a 19-9 (.679) career
doubles mark for 30.5 career points. Mandsager is tied for 19th
all-time at RIC in career points, tied for 21st in career
singles wins, 13th in career singles winning percentage,
tied for 18th in career doubles victories and is 12th
in career doubles winning percentage. |

|
As a senior
in 2003, Mandsager was 10-1 (.909) at number six singles and 8-2
(.800) at number three doubles for 14.0 points on the season.
Mandsager was fifth on the team in singles wins and points, and was
tied for fourth in doubles victories. |
|
|
|
As a junior
in 2002, she was 7-8 (.467) at number five singles and 9-6 (.571) at
number three doubles for a total of 11.5 points on the season. |
|
|
|
As a
sophomore in 2001, Mandsager was 4-1 (.800) in singles and 2-1 (.667)
in doubles for 5.0 points on the season. |
|
|
|
Prior to
transferring to RIC, Mandsager attended the University of Rhode
Island. She is an anthropology major with a minor in communications
and a 1999 graduate of Portsmouth High School. |
|
|
|
Senior
Ashley Foster (Jamestown, RI) joined the team for the first time
this fall and posted a 3-3 (.500) record in singles and was 2-1 (.667)
in doubles for 4.0 points on the season. Foster is an elementary
education major with a concentration in math and a 2000 graduate of
North Kingstown High School. |

Junior
Meghan Mooney (North Scituate, RI) was 12-5 (.706) at number three
singles and 12-4 (.750) at number one doubles for 18.0 points on the
season. She was tied for first on the team in singles wins and was
second in both doubles wins and points. Mooney is currently sixth in
career points at RIC, seventh in singles victories and sixth in
doubles victories. |

|
Sophomore
co-captain Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) was 12-5 (.706)
at number one singles and 13-4 (.765) number one doubles for a
team-high 18.5 points on the season. Barrette tied a school-record for
a season with 13 doubles wins and was tied for the team lead in
singles wins. She is currently 13th in career points
all-time at RIC, 18th in singles victories and ninth in
doubles victories. |

Heidi Beauregard (Cumberland, RI) was 2-0 (1.000) in
doubles for 1.0 point on the season. |

Kerri Giorgio (Saunderstown, RI) was 0-1 (.000) in singles and 1-0

season. Marchant was tied for fourth on the team in doubles victories
and was sixth in points. |

Caitlin Morin (Westerly, RI) was the Little East Conference
Champion at number five singles. She was 12-4 (.750) at number five
singles and 7-6 (.538) at number three doubles for 15.5 points on the
season. Morin was tied for the team lead in singles wins, was fourth
in points and sixth in doubles wins. |
