Caitlin Gavin Earns Little East Conference Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week Honors

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College freshman Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) was named the Little East Conference Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for her performance last week.

In RIC’s lone game, Gavin scored a game-high six goals and collected two ground balls as the Anchorwomen defeated Nichols College, 16-5, on Mar. 29. On the season, she has played four games, starting all of them. She has a team-high 17 points on a team-best 17 goals. Gavin also has compiled a team-high 42 shots, 36 on goal, 22 ground balls and 13 draw controls.

She is a 2003 graduate of Portsmouth High School.

Head Coach Ryan Angel’s team is currently 3-1 overall and has yet to face a Little East Conference opponent. RIC has currently won three consecutive games, which is a new school-record. The Anchorwomen are back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 6 as they travel to UMass-Dartmouth for a 4 p.m. contest.
