FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE    April 20, 2004    Manny Karngar Earns Little East Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week Honors   Providence, RI—Rhode Island College sophomore Manny Karngar (Providence, RI) was named the Little East Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Solomon Husky Invitational, hosted by Northeastern, on Saturday, Apr. 17.   Karngar qualified for the Division III ECAC and New England Championships by placing second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.45. In other action this spring, he placed eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.56 and third in the 400 meters with a time of 50.42 at the Bryant Invitational on Apr. 10. He finished first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.75 at the RIC Invitational on Apr. 3. He placed 11th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:07.99 at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.   He is a finance major and a 2002 graduate of Shea High School.    Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team will host the Little East/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Saturday, Apr. 24.   -end-
