Dana Skorupa
Earns Little East Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete
of the Week Honors
|
|
Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College sophomore Dana
Skorupa (Cumberland, RI)
was named the
Little East Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the
Week for her performance at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance
Championships on Saturday, Apr. 24. This is Skorupa’s second such
honor of the season.

Skorupa
earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in five events placing first in
the 200 meters with a time of 25.72, second in 100 meters with a time
of 12.51, fourth as a part of the 4x100 meter relay team with a time
of 51.20, third as a member of the 4x400 meter relay team with a time
of 4:24.63 and fourth in the long jump with a distance of 16’04.25’’.

In other
action this spring, Skorupa placed fourth in the 100 meters with a
time of 12.71 and fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.40 at the
Solomon Husky Invitational on Apr. 17. She finished first in the 100
meters with a time of 12.71, first in the 200 meters with a time of
26.38 and third in the long jump with a distance of 4.80 meters at the
Bryant College Invitational on Apr. 10. She swept her two events
finishing first in the 100 meters with a time of 13.15 and first in
the 200 meters with a time of 26.89 at the RIC Invitational on Apr. 3.
She placed eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.63 at the
Snowflake Classic on Mar. 27.

She is an
elementary education major with a specialization in special education
and a 2002 graduate of Cumberland High School.

Head Coach
Kevin Jackson’s
team hosted the Little East/MASCAC/Alliance Championships on Saturday,
Apr. 24. The Anchorwomen finished tied for fifth out of ten teams in
the Alliance with 56 points and fourth out of five teams in the Little
East with 61 points. Southern Maine won the Alliance with 218.5 points
and Little East with a score of 254.5. In upcoming action, RIC will
compete at the New England Div. III Championships hosted by Williams
College on Saturday, May 1 at 11 a.m.
