Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College pounded out 19 hits and defeated Clark University,
22-9, to even its record at 14-14. The loss drops the Cougars to 12-18
on the season. |

The Anchormen trailed
9-7 when they came to bat in the bottom of the seventh inning. Senior
first baseman Eric Gibree's (Bristol, RI) three-run home run
gave RIC the lead and triggered an offensive explosion as the
Anchormen plated 13 runs in the inning. Gibree, who was one of six RIC
players with multiple hits, went 3-5 with three runs and three RBI.
Junior left fielder Chris Higgins (Swansea, MA) went 2-5 with
three runs, three RBI, a double and a home run. Sophomore pitcher
Bruce Taraska (Exeter, RI) picked up his first collegiate win
(1-0) in relief of starter sophomore Wade Briggs (Woonsocket, RI).
