ANCHORMEN WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT |

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College improved to 15-14 overall and notched its fourth
consecutive win with a, 12-9, victory over Bridgewater State College.
The Bears fall to 17-13 in the loss. |

RIC jumped out to an
early 2-0 lead on junior pitcher Glenn Dusablon's (North
Smithfield, RI) two-run homer in the bottom of the first. RIC
piled on four more in the second, as well as one in the third to build
a commanding 7-1 lead heading into the top of the fourth. The Bears
came back with six runs in the top half of the fourth inning to even
the game up 7-7. Junior third baseman Tim LaConte (Norton, MA),
sophomore right fielder Greg Sunderland (Rehoboth, MA) and
senior center fielder Mike Richard (Assonet, MA) all homered in
the fourth. |

RIC came right back
in the bottom of the fourth with two runs to take the lead for good.
Junior pitcher Matt Brannon (Cranston, RI) came on in the fifth
to relieve Dusablon and picked up his fourth win (4-4) by striking out
six in five innings of work. |

RIC sophomore
shortstop Ray De La Cruz (Pawtucket, RI) went 3-4 with two
runs, two RBI and a double. Sophomore right fielder Mike Naylor
(Warwick, RI) went 3-5 with two runs, two RBI, a triple and a home
run. |

|
Sunderland paced
BSC's offense by going 3-3 with two runs, four RBI, a double and two
homers. Freshman pitcher Derek Landry (Rockland, MA) to the
loss (0-1) in relief of junior starting pitcher Greg Lovett
(Westwood, MA). |

|
In upcoming
action, RIC will host LEC rival Plymouth State University for a
doubleheader on Saturday, May 1. |
