DOWN CAMELS, 56-39

|
Providence, RI—Rhode Island College downed Connecticut College,
56-39, to improve to 2-1 overall in collegiate women’s basketball
action. The Anchorwomen are off to their best start since the 1997-98
season and with one more victory will equal their win total (three)
from all of last winter. |

RIC
freshman forward Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH) had 13 points and
grabbed eight rebounds. Junior forward Heather Pettigrew (Cranston,
RI) and freshman forward Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) each
posted double-doubles with 12 and ten points apiece and 11 and ten
rebounds respectively. Geisler also snared a game-high five steals and
it’s the second consecutive game that she has reached double figures
in points and boards. Freshman guard Lisa Ranzoni (Lee, MA)
rounded out the RIC contingent in double-digit points with a ten-point
effort. |

Connecticut College suffers its first loss of the ’03-04 season as the
Camels fall to an even 1-1 mark. Freshman guard Casey Thran
(Dalton, PA) led all scorers with 14 points and a game-high 12
boards. Junior forward Mollie Gage (New York, NY) had 11 points
and five boards. |

Both squads are off for Thanksgiving. In upcoming action, the
Anchorwomen will play at Roger Williams on Thursday, Dec. 4.
Connecticut College will host Clark on Dec. 2. |
