Rhode Island College Men’s Indoor Track Update #5

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team competed at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24. There were no team scores kept at the meet.

Sophomore Manny Karngar (Providence, RI) placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.31 and second in the 400 meters with a time of 50.37. He broke two school-records by finishing first in the 200 meters with a time of 23.14 and first in the 500 meters with a time of 1:05.53 at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17.

Senior Tim Rudd (Warwick, RI) placed third in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:34.42. He finished first in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:41.10 and second in the 500 meters with a time of 1:08.39 at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.60 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He finished fifth in the mile with a time of 4:26.60 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. He placed first in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:36.67 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Junior Marc Piette (Woonsocket, RI) placed 15^th in the shot with a distance of 12.22 meters. He finished fifth in shot with a distance of 37’03.75” and second in the weight throw with a distance of 45’10.00” at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He placed ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 41’06.50” at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He finished seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 13.40 meters at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. He placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 46’00.50” at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Sophomore Nick Palazzo (Providence, RI) finished 11^th in the weight throw with a distance of 13.28 meters. He placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 44’11.50” at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He finished ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 13.15 meters at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. He placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 43’07.75” at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Sophomore Richard Palazzo (Providence, RI) placed 17^th in the weight throw with a distance of 11.97 meters. He finished fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 41’01.00” at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He placed 14^th in the weight throw with a distance of 37’09.50” at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He finished 16^th in the weight throw with a distance of 11.63 meters at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. He placed ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 34’05.00” at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Junior Josh Precourt (Woonsocket, RI) placed 16^th in the 400 meters with a time of 54.68. He finished seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 24.73 and ninth in the 400 meters with a time of 55:26 at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He placed 24^th in the 400 meters with a time of 54.77 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He finished 19^th in the 400 meters with a time of 55.28 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. He placed fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 55.81 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Freshman Jam Luong (Millbury, MA) tied for 14^th place in the long jump with a distance of 5.29 meters and was sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.83 meters. He finished third in the long jump with a distance of 18’09.75” and third in the triple jump with a distance of 39’03.25” at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He placed 15^th in the long jump with a distance of 17’10.75” at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He finished sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.58 meters and 28^th in the 400 meters with a time of 57.13 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. He placed ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.14 and sixth in the long jump with a mark of 17’07.00” at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Freshman Andy Neil (Warwick, RI) placed 22^nd in the 800 meters with a time of 2:10.78. He finished fourth in the 500 meters with a time of 1:12.17 at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He placed 25^th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.79 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He finished 14^th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.79. He placed second in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:47.46 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Freshman Javon Partin (Providence, RI) placed 17^th in the 500 meters with a time of 1:11.20. He finished seventh in the 500 meters with a time of 1:14.71 at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He placed 20^th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.59 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He finished 11^th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.46 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. He placed third in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:47.46 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Freshman Tim Goodwin (Warwick, RI) finished 32^nd in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:28.51. He placed sixth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:48.43 at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He finished 11^th in the mile with a time of 4:44.56 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He placed eighth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:43.03 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Senior Mike Basilico (Johnston, RI) placed 37^th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:32.94. He finished eighth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:55.31 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He placed 11^th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:58.46 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Freshman Chris Matteson (Wood River Junction, RI) placed tied for 19^th in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.87. He finished first in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.67 and tenth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.91 at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He placed 16^th in the preliminary round of the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.96 and 40^th in the 400 meters with a time of 58.44 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He finished eighth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.49 and 27^th in the 400 meters with a time of 57.06 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. He placed eighth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.06 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Freshman Dan Newman (Smithfield, RI) finished eighth in the high jump with a mark of 1.83 meters. He placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 5’10.00” at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 6’01.25” at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He placed third in the high jump with mark of 6’02.00” at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Freshman Matt Goroza (West Warwick, RI) finished 40^th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.77. He placed 15^th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.80 at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He finished 37^th in the prelims of the 55 meters with a time of 7.36 and 41^st in the 400 meters with a time of 59.29 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He placed 32^nd in the 60 meters with a time of 7.64 and 29^th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.47 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13.

Freshman John Martinelli (North Providence, RI) finished 21^st in the 400 meters with a time of 55.51. He placed 12^th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.28 and 12^th in the 400 meters with a time of 56.08 at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 17. He finished 33^rd in the prelims of the 55 meters with a time of 7.17 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He placed 16^th in the 60 meters with a time of 7.60 and 16^th in the 400 meters with a time of 54.59 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13.

Freshman Eric Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) placed 16^th in the mile with a time of 4:41.55 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He finished tenth in the mile with a time of 4:39.81 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. He placed seventh in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:36.62 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Junior Joe Parenteau (Smithfield, RI) finished seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.27 at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. He placed fourth in the mile with a time of 4:32.22 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at the Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.
