Rhode Island College Women’s Indoor Track Update #5

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team competed at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24. No team scores were kept at the meet.

Sophomore Dana Skorupa (Cumberland, RI) placed sixth in the 55 meters with a time of 7.59 and third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.98. She finished first in the 200 meters with a time of 26.75 and second in the 55 meters with a time of 7.50, both of which are new RIC records, at the Wesleyan University Invitational on Jan. 17. She placed 18^th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04:62 and ninth in the semi-final round of the 55 meters with a time of 7.55 at the Yale Classic on Saturday, Jan. 10. She finished eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.03 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. She placed 11^th in the 55 meters with a time of 7.65. She placed tenth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.97 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6. For her efforts this past week, Skorupa was named the Little East Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Junior Kate McCalligett (Warwick, RI) placed 11^th in the preliminary round of the 55 meters with a time of 7.75 and ninth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:29.06. She finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 27.00 and fourth in the preliminary round of the 55 meters with a time of 7.74 at the Wesleyan University Invitational on Jan. 17. She placed 12^th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.74 and 14^th in the semi-final round of the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.90 at the Yale Classic on Saturday, Jan. 10. She finished tenth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.06 and 14^th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.46 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. She placed sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.60 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Junior Derrah-Lynn Cameron (Attleboro, MA) finished eighth in the long jump with a distance of 4.15 meters at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. She placed 26^th in the weight throw with a distance of 26’11.00” and placed 11^th in the long jump with a mark of 12’05.00” at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at the Southern Maine University Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.
