Rhode Island College’s Dana Skorupa Earns LEC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week Honors For Second Consecutive Week

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College sophomore Dana Skorupa (Cumberland, RI) was named the Little East Conference’s Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Skorupa finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.98 and sixth in the 55 meters with a time of 7.59 at the Tufts University Invitational on Jan. 24.

She finished first in the 200 meters with a time of 26.75 and second in the 55 meters with a time of 7.50, both of which are new RIC records, at the Wesleyan University Invitational on Jan. 17. She placed 18^th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04:62 and ninth in the semi-final round of the 55 meters with a time of 7.55 at the Yale Classic on Saturday, Jan. 10. She finished eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.03 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. She placed 11^th in the 55 meters with a time of 7.65. She placed tenth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.97 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

She is an elementary education major, with a concentration in special education, and a 2002 graduate of Cumberland High School.

In upcoming action, Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team will compete at the Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.
