Rhode Island College Women’s Indoor Track Update #6

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team competed at the University of Southern Maine's Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31. RIC placed fourth (seven teams) with a team score of 44.0. Southern Maine won the meet with a score of 152.50

Sophomore Dana Skorupa (Cumberland, RI) placed first in the 55 meters, second in the 200 meters and third in the 400 meters with times of 7.52, 26.82 and 1:01.92, respectively. Skorupa placed sixth in the 55 meters with a time of 7.59 and third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.98 at the Tufts Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished first in the 200 meters with a time of 26.75 and second in the 55 meters with a time of 7.50, both of which are new RIC records, at the Wesleyan University Invitational on Jan. 17. She placed 18^th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04:62 and ninth in the semi-final round of the 55 meters with a time of 7.55 at the Yale Classic on Saturday, Jan. 10. She finished eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.03 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. She placed 11^th in the 55 meters with a time of 7.65. She placed tenth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.97 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6. For her efforts this past week, Skorupa was named the Little East Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Junior Kate McCalligett (Warwick, RI) placed third in both the 55 and 200 meters as well as second in the 400 meters with times of 7.70, 26.92 and 59.80, respectively. McCalligett placed 11^th in the preliminary round of the 55 meters with a time of 7.75 and ninth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:29.06 at the Tufts Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 27.00 and fourth in the preliminary round of the 55 meters with a time of 7.74 at the Wesleyan University Invitational on Jan. 17. She placed 12^th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.74 and 14^th in the semi-final round of the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.90 at the Yale Classic on Saturday, Jan. 10. She finished tenth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.06 and 14^th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.46 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. She placed sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.60 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

Freshman Amanda Rinn (Warwick, RI) placed 21st in the 200 meters with a time of 31.61. She also placed seventh in the pole vault with a height of 7'06.00".

Junior Derrah-Lynn Cameron (Attleboro, MA) finished eighth in the long jump with a distance of 4.15 meters at the Yale Classic on Jan. 10. She placed 26^th in the weight throw with a distance of 26’11.00” and placed 11^th in the long jump with a mark of 12’05.00” at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6.

RIC has this weekend off. The Anchorwomen will compete at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday, Feb. 14.
