Second-Ranked Southern Maine Defeat Anchorwomen |
|
Providence, RI—The Second-Ranked University of
Southern Maine Huskies defeated the Rhode Island College Anchorwomen,
84-46, in collegiate women’s basketball action. With the victory, USM
improves to 22-1 and a perfect 12-0 in conference action, while the
loss drops RIC to 14-9 overall and 6-6 in LEC play. |

USM pulled away early as it built a 31-point halftime lead. The
Huskies had four players score in double figures, led by sophomore
forward Tiffany Jones (Skowhegan, ME) who had a game-high 19
points. Sophomore forward Megan Myles (Turner, ME) was the only
player to record a double-double, as she scored 13 points and grabbed
a game-high ten rebounds. |

RIC was led by freshman forward Kari Geisler (Derry, NH)
who scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed a co-team-best six
rebounds in a losing effort. Also, this afternoon's game was preceded
by Senior Day ceremonies honoring Abby Ferri (Coventry, RI),
Rachel Pecoraro (Smithfield, RI) and Liz Shields (Warwick, RI). |

In upcoming action, RIC will play at Western Connecticut on Tuesday,
Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. The Huskies will play at Plymouth State on
Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. |
