Women’s Indoor Track & Field Season Summary

Providence, RI--Head
Coach Kevin Jackson’s team closed out the 2003-04 season at the
Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Championships,
hosted by Bowdoin College, on Mar. 5-6. The Anchorwomen finished tied
for 38th place (38 teams) with 2.0 points. |

The Anchorwomen competed at the New England Div. III Championships,
hosted by Bowdoin College, on Feb. 20-21. RIC placed 17th (23 teams)
with 13.0 points. |
|
|
|
RIC competed at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance
Championships, hosted by Southern Maine, on Feb. 14. RIC tied for
eighth overall and was fifth in the Little East with scores of 26.0
and 26.0, respectively. |

|
Junior Kate McCalligett (Warwick,
RI)
broke two school records this season. McCalligett now holds the top
times in the 400 and 800 meters. She placed ninth in the 400 meters
with a time of 1:00.92 at the ECAC Championships. McCalligett earned
All-New England honors in one event. She placed sixth in the 400
meters with a time of 1:00.30. |

McCalligett finished 19th in the preliminary round of the
55 meters with a time of 8.02 at the Tufts Invitational on Feb. 7. She
placed third in both the 55 and 200 meters as well as second in the
400 meters with times of 7.70, 26.92 and a school-record 59.80,
respectively at the Southern Maine Invitational on Jan. 31.
McCalligett placed 11th in the preliminary round of the 55
meters with a time of 7.75 and ninth in the 800 meters with a
school-record time of 2:29.06 at the Tufts Invitational on Jan. 24.
She finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 27.00 and fourth
in the preliminary round of the 55 meters with a time of 7.74 at the
Wesleyan University Invitational on Jan. 17. She placed 12th
in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.74 and 14th in the
semi-final round of the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.90 at the Yale
Classic on Saturday, Jan. 10. She finished tenth in the 400 meters
with a time of 1:02.06 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. She
placed sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.60 at the Alden
Invitational on Dec. 6. |

Sophomore Dana Skorupa (Cumberland,
RI)
was a three-time Little East Conference Women's Track Athlete of the
Week selection this winter. She broke two RIC records this winter,
with high marks in both the 55 and 200 meters. She earned All-ECAC
honors in the 200 meters, placing seventh with a time of 26.54.
Skorupa earned All-New England honors in two events. She placed fourth
in both the 55 meters and 200 meters with times of 7.40 and 26.45,
respectively. Both times were new school records. Skorupa earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors in three events at the Alliance/Little
East Championships on Feb. 14. She placed third in the 55 meters,
first in the 200 meters and first in the 400 meters with times of
7.53, 26.58 and 1:00.70, respectively. |

Skorupa finished fifth in the finals of the 55 meters with a time of
7.63 and fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.55 at the Tufts
Invitational on Feb. 7. She placed first in the 55 meters, second in
the 200 meters and third in the 400 meters with times of 7.52, 26.82
and 1:01.92, respectively at the Southern Maine Invitational on Jan.
31. Skorupa placed sixth in the 55 meters with a time of 7.59 and
third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.98 at the Tufts
Invitational on Jan. 24. She finished first in the 200 meters with a
time of 26.75 and second in the 55 meters with a time of 7.50 at the
Wesleyan University Invitational on Jan. 17. She placed 18th
in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.62 and ninth in the semi-final
round of the 55 meters with a time of 7.55 at the Yale Classic on
Saturday, Jan. 10. She finished eighth in the 400 meters with a time
of 1:01.03 at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 13. She placed 11th
in the 55 meters with a time of 7.65. She placed tenth in the 200
meters with a time of 26.97 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 6. |

Freshman Amanda Rinn (Warwick,
RI)
placed 17th in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 31.51 at the
Alliance Championships on Feb. 14. She placed 21st in the 200 meters
with a time of 31.61 and seventh in the pole vault with a new
school-record height of 7'06.00" at the Southern Maine Invitational on
Jan. 31. |
