Colin Aina Joins
Cross Country and Track Staff
at Rhode Island College |
|
Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College has named Colin Aina as an assistant men’s and
women’s cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field coach. He
will assist Head Coach Kevin Jackson with all phases of the RIC
running program including recruiting, scouting, administering practice
and meet coaching. |

Aina is an accomplished track athlete and most recently qualified for
the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 110 meter high hurdles, but missed
the cutoff by just a tenth of a second. |
|
|
|
Aina is a 2004 graduate from the University of Rhode Island, where he
was the captain of the men’s track and field team. From 2001-04, Aina
was a 13-time Atlantic-10 Conference champion in the long jump, high
hurdles and 4x100 meter relay events. Aina was also a New England
champion in the aforementioned events from 2002-04. He was a USA
Indoor National Championships semifinalist in the high hurdles in both
2003 and 2004. He was an ICAAAA champion in the high hurdles in 2003
and runner-up in 2004. Aina received the Albert Labeouf Award in 2004,
signifying him as URI’s top male, senior student-athlete.

In addition to his accomplishments on the track, Aina was a member of
the University of Rhode Island’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.),
was a secretary for the URI Musicians’ Guild, and was a freshmen
student orientation leader. |
|
|
|
Aina earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of
Rhode Island in 2004 and currently resides in Providence, Rhode
Island. |
