Rhode Island College Women’s Tennis Update #6 |

(12-0 Overall; 6-0 in the Little East Conference) |

Providence, RI--Head
Coach Kelly Chartier’s team is off to the best start in the
program’s history, posting a 12-0 overall record and a 6-0 mark in the
Little East Conference. RIC has won 16 straight matches, dating back
to last fall, and has not lost since Oct. 7, 2003 when the Anchorwomen
fell to Salem State, 5-2. With one more victory, RIC will equal the
most wins in a season (13), previously established by the 1999 squad. |

RIC is currently in the midst of a 15-match winning streak against
Little East Conference opposition. The Anchorwomen are 6-0 this year,
were a perfect 5-0 last year and won four straight after dropping the
conference opener vs. Plymouth State back on Sept. 14, 2002. |

Junior captain Liz Barrette (North
Providence, RI)
is 8-4 (.667) at number one singles and 7-5 (.583) at number one
doubles for 11.5 points on the season. Barrette posted a 3-1 record at
number one singles and was 4-0 at number one doubles in a 4-0 week for
the Anchorwomen. |

Senior captain Meghan Mooney (North
Scituate, RI)
is 9-3 (.750) at number two singles and 7-4 (.636) at number one
doubles for 6.5 points on the season. Mooney was 4-0 at both number
two singles and number one doubles in a 4-0 week for the Anchorwomen.
For her efforts, she was named LEC Player of the Week for the second
time this season. |

Freshman Audrey Davis (Stroudsburg,
PA)
is 11-0 (1.000) at number three singles and is 7-3 (.700) at number
two doubles for a team-high 14.5 points on the season. Davis went 4-0
at #3 singles and 2-1 in #2 doubles last week for the Anchorwomen. For
her efforts, she was named the LEC's Rookie of the Week for the third
time this season. |

Freshman Kseniya Gurvich (Barrington,
RI)
is 8-2 (.800) at number four singles and 2-0 (1.000) in doubles for
9.0 points on the season. Gurvich has been named the LEC’s Rookie of
the Week once this season. |

Senior captain Samantha Hedden (Rumford,
RI)
is 4-4 (.500) in singles and 0-1 (.000) in doubles for 4.0 points on
the season. |

Sophomore Caitlin Morin (Westerly,
RI)
is 5-2 (.714) in singles and 6-3 (.667) at number two doubles for 8.0
points on the season. |

Sophomore Tara Marchant (North
Scituate, RI)
is 3-3 in singles (.500) and is 10-1 (.909) at number three doubles
for 8.0 points on the season. |

is 2-0 (1.000) in singles and 9-1 (.900) at number three doubles for
6.5 points on the season. |

3:30 p.m. before heading to Gorham, ME to take part in the Little East
Conference Championships, hosted by Southern Maine, on Oct. 15-16. |
