Women’s Tennis Season Summary
13-0
Overall; 6-0 in the Little East Conference;
2nd Place at Little East Conference Championships |

Coach Kelly Chartier’s
(Career Record: 33-9, .786) team finished the 2003 campaign with a
13-0 (1.000) overall record and a 6-0 (1.000) record in the Little
East Conference. The Anchorwomen were the regular season Little East
Conference Champions and narrowly missed winning its third LEC
Tournament Championship in the last five years by 0.5 points. Plymouth
State totaled 17.0 points, while the Anchorwomen were a close second
with 16.5 points, at the LEC Championships, hosted by Southern Maine
on Oct. 15-16.

The club
posted its first-ever undefeated season and the team’s 13 victories
were the most since the 1999 team went 13-2. 2004 marked the first
time that the Anchorwomen went undefeated during regular season
competition against Little East opposition as well. |
|
|
|
Senior Meghan Mooney (North Scituate, RI) leaves RIC with a
42-16 (.724) career singles record and a 39-18 (.684) career doubles
mark for 61.5 career points. Mooney is third all-time at RIC in career
singles wins, is fourth in points and doubles wins, and is 10th
in singles winning percentage and 12th in doubles winning
percentage. |

As a senior in 2004, Mooney
was 11-4 (.733) at number two singles and 9-5 (.643) at number one
doubles for 15.5 points on the season. She was second on the team in
singles wins and points, and was tied for third in doubles wins. |
|
|
|
As a junior in 2003, she
was 12-5
(.706) at number three singles and 12-4 (.750) at number one doubles
for 18.0 points on the season. She was tied for first on the team in
singles wins and was second in both doubles wins and points. |
|
|
|
As a sophomore in 2002, Mooney
was 6-5
(.545) at number three singles and 7-6 (.538) at number two doubles
for a total of 9.5 points on the season. |
|
|
|
As a freshman in 2001, she
was the
Little East Conference Champion at number five singles and number two
doubles. She was 13-2 (.867) at number five singles and 11-3 (.786) at
number two doubles for 18.5 points on the season. Mooney was second on
the team in singles wins, tied for second in points and was fourth in
doubles victories. |

She is a communications major and a 2001 graduate of Scituate High
School. |

|
|
Junior captain Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) was 10-5
(.667) at number one singles and 9-6 (.600) at number one doubles for
14.5 points on the season. Barrette was third on the team in singles
wins, was third in points and was tied for third in doubles victories.
Barrette is currently seventh all-time at RIC in career singles wins
and is fifth in career doubles victories. |

Junior Alyson St. Amand (West Warwick, RI) was 0-1 (.000) in
doubles. |
|
|
|
Sophomore Heidi Beauregard (Cumberland, RI) was 1-0 (1.000) in
singles and 0-1 (.000) in doubles for 1.0 point on the season. |
|
|
|
Sophomore Kerri Giorgio (Saunderstown, RI) was 0-1 (.000) in
doubles. |
|
|
|
Sophomore Caitlyn Lowman (Narragansett, RI) was 0-1 (.000) in
doubles. |
|
|
|
Sophomore Tara Marchant (North Scituate, RI) was the
Little East Conference Champion at both number five singles and number
three doubles. She was 6-4 in singles (.600) and is 13-1 (.929) at
number three doubles for 12.5 points on the season. Marchant led the
team in doubles victories. |

|
|
Sophomore Caitlin Morin (Westerly, RI) was 7-4 (.636) in
singles and 7-5 (.583) at number two doubles for 10.5 points on the
season. |
|
|
|
Freshman Ashley Barry (Bristol, RI) was 1-0 (1.000) in singles
and 2-0 (2.000) in doubles for 2.0 points on the season. |
|
|
|
Freshman Audrey Davis (Stroudsburg, PA) was the Little East
Conference Champion at number three singles. For the season, Davis was
14-0 (1.000) at number three singles and is 8-5 (.615) at number two
doubles for a team-high 18.0 points on the season. She led the team in
singles wins and points. Her 14 singles wins were tied for the
fifth-most for a single season in RIC women’s tennis history. She is
one of only six players in RIC women’s tennis history to finish a
season undefeated in singles with ten or more wins. |

Freshman Michaela Grant (Smithfield, RI) was the Little East
Conference Champion at number three doubles with Tara Marchant. For
the season, Grant was 2-0 (1.000) in singles and 12-1 (.923) at number
three doubles for 8.0 points on the season. She was second on the team
in doubles wins. |
|
|
|
Freshman Kseniya Gurvich (Barrington, RI) was 9-4 (.692) at
number four singles and 2-0 (1.000) in doubles for 10.0 points on the
season. She was fourth on the team in singles wins and sixth in
points. |
|
|
|
Freshmen Stacey Cofone (Charlestown, RI), Toni DiNobile
(Lincoln, RI), Laura Geelen (Pepperell, MA) and Courtney
Magiera (Hope, RI) were reserves on the team. |
