Kyle Teixeira Named Little East Conference
Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year;
Also Tabbed First Team All-Little East

Island College junior forward
Kyle Teixeira (Warren, RI)
was named the
Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year and
also earned First Team All-LEC honors. This is the third consecutive
season Teixeira has earned First Team All-Conference honors. This is
the second time Teixeira has been named the Offensive Player of the
Year, having picked up the award as a freshman in 2002 as well.

Teixeira
has played in 20 games, starting all of
them. He has 21 goals and five assists for 47 points on the season.
Teixeira’s 21 goals and five assists give him 63 goals and 142 points
for his career. Teixeira’s 63 goals is a new RIC all-time record,
passing former RIC all-time men’s soccer goals leader
Domenico Petrarca (’77).
Teixeira scored the record-setting goal in the 82nd minute
of RIC’s, 3-1, LEC semi-final victory over Plymouth State. Teixeira is
only five points shy of Petrarca’s all-time RIC’s career points
record.

He is a physical
education/health major and a 2002 graduate of Mt. Hope High School.

Head Coach John
Mello’s
team lost, 3-1, to Keene State in the Championship Game of the 2004
Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 6.
The Anchormen are 11-8-2 and were 4-2-1 (second place) in the Little
East during the regular season.

RIC will host
Johnson and Wales in the first round of the 2004 ECAC Men’s Soccer
Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 1:30 p.m.
