Season Summary

2004 Little East Conference Regular Season Champions

Providence, RI--Head
Coach Craig Letourneau’s (Career Record: 44-48) team closed out
the 2004 season with a 17-16 overall record and a 5-2 (first place)
mark in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen were the Little
East Conference regular season champions and hosted the 2004 LEC
Women’s Volleyball Tournament. |

The club’s 17 wins were the most in a season since the 1989 squad went
20-10. The Anchorwomen also established new RIC records for the most
kills (1,440), assists (1,245) and digs (1,345) in a season. |

|
|
Junior right side hitter Sara Chamberland (Coventry,
RI)
played in 110 games in 29 matches. She had 66 kills (0.60/game), 37
assists (0.34/game), 127 digs (1.15/game), 39 blocks (0.37/game) and
16 service aces (0.15/game). |

|
|
Junior outside hitter Kristy Nix (East
Setauket, NY)
was named Second Team All-Little East Conference. Nix played in 125
games in 33 matches. She had 355 kills (2.84/game), a .251 hitting
percentage, 36 service aces (0.29/game), 14 assists (0.11/game), 269
digs (2.15/game), and 49 blocks (0.39/game). Her 355 kills are a new
RIC record for a single-season. She currently ranks sixth all-time at
RIC with 554 career kills and a .233 career hitting percentage. |

Junior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North
Kingstown, RI)
played in 126 games in 33 matches. She had 33 kills (0.26/game), a
.037 hitting percentage, five assists (0.04/game), 44 service aces
(0.35/game) and a team-high 380 digs (3.02/game). Her 380 digs were a
new RIC record for a single season. Wojciechowski was named to the RIC
Invitational’s All-Tournament Team. |

Sophomore outside hitter Kari Geisler (Deerfield,
NH)
was named Second Team All-Little East Conference. Geisler played in
125 games in 33 matches. She had 354 kills (2.83/game), a .212 hitting
percentage, 12 assists (0.10/ game), 30 service aces (0.24/game), 96
digs (0.77/game), and 42 blocks (0.34/game). She was named to the
Bridgewater State College Invitational All-Tournament team on Sept.
25. Geisler is currently third all-time at RIC with 605 career kills
and is ninth with a .205 career hitting percentage. |

Sophomore middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston,
RI)
was named First Team All-Little East Conference. Miga played in 126
games in 33 matches. She had 325 kills (2.58/game), a .308 hitting
percentage and 164 blocks (1.30/game). Miga was named to both the
Springfield and RIC Invitational’s All-Tournament teams. She was named
the Little East Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week once on the
season. She is currently RIC’s all-time leader with a .302 career
hitting percentage and is fourth with 603 kills and fifth with 252
career blocks. |

Sophomore defensive specialist Kara Sarcione (Londonderry,
NH)
played in 112 games in 33 matches. She had 36 assists (0.32/game), 43
service aces (0.38/game) and 191 digs (1.71/game). She is currently
second all-time at RIC with 965 career assists. |

|
|
Sophomore outside hitter Julie Seitsinger (North
Kingstown, RI)
played in 31 games in 22 matches. She had five kills (0.16/game), five
service aces (0.16/game), ten digs (0.32/game) and three blocks
(0.10/game). |
|
|
|
Freshman outside hitter Brooke Bryant (Nashua,
NH)
played in 36 games in 21 matches. She had 30 kills (0.83/game), a .024
hitting percentage, two service aces (0.06/game), 17 digs (0.47/game)
and five blocks (0.14/game). |

|
|
Freshman defensive specialist Pam Franzese (Carle
Place, NY)
played in 13 games in ten matches. She had 11 digs (0.85/game). |

|
|
Freshman middle hitter Madison Greene (Cranston,
RI)
played in 19 games in 14 matches. She had ten kills (0.53/game), one
service ace (0.05/game), one dig (0.05/game) and one block
(0.05/game). |

|
|
Freshman middle hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry,
RI)
played in 125 games in 33 matches. She had 228 kills (1.82/game), a
.211 hitting percentage, 54 service aces (0.43/game) six assists
(0.05/game) and 77 blocks (0.62/game). She was named the Little East
Conference’s Rookie of the Week twice on the season. |

Freshman setter Jeanne Rosa (Milford,
CT)
played in 100 games in 33 matches. She had 543 assists (5.43/game), 49
service aces (0.49/game), 120 digs (1.20/game), and 16 blocks
(0.16/game). She is currently eighth all-time at RIC in career
assists. |

|
Freshman setter Amy Souza (Tiverton,
RI)
played in 86 games in 29 matches. She had eight kills (0.09/game), a
team-high 584 assists (6.79/game), 20 service aces (0.23/game) and 77
digs (0.90/game). She was named the Little East Conference’s Women’s
Volleyball Rookie of the Week once on the season. She is currently
seventh all-time at RIC in career assists. |
