Babat and Beaudry to Captain
Rhode Island College Women’s Lacrosse

 

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College seniors Erika Babat (North Kingstown, RI) and Danielle Beaudry (West Greenwich, RI) will captain the women’s lacrosse team for the 2005 season.

 

Last season, Babat played in 15 games, starting all of them. She compiled 60 ground balls, 11 draw controls and nine caused turnovers. Babat is RIC’s all-time leader with 121 career ground balls.

 

She is an elementary education major with a concentration in special education and a 2001 graduate of North Kingstown High School.

 

Last spring, Beaudry was a Second Team All-Little East Conference selection. She played in 15 games, starting 14 of them. She had 23 goals and a team-high 15 assists for 38 points. Beaudry compiled 50 ground balls, 11 draw controls and seven caused turnovers. Beaudry’s 15 assists were a school record for a single season and she is the program’s all-time leader with 25 career helpers and 68 career points. Coming into this season, Beaudry is also tied for the all-time lead in career goals (43).

 

She is an elementary education major with a minor in special education and a 2001 graduate of Exeter-West Greenwich High School.

 

Head Coach Ryan Angel’s team is 1-0 overall and has yet to face a Little East Conference opponent. RIC defeated Worcester State, 19-3, in their only action so far this season.
