REGGIO’S GAME-WINNER KEEPS RIC UNBEATEN
Anchorwomen off to best start in school history

Providence, RI—Freshman Melissa Reggio (Commack, NY)
snapped a 6-6 tie with 51 seconds left in regulation to lift Rhode
Island College past Salve Regina, 7-6, in collegiate women’s lacrosse
action on Monday afternoon. The Anchorwomen are 3-0 overall and are
off to the best start in the program’s history. Salve Regina is in the
midst of a three-game losing streak and falls to 1-3 on the season. |

In addition
to the game-winner, Reggio assisted on RIC’s fifth and sixth goals of
the game for a three-point effort. Sophomore Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth,
RI)
led the Anchorwomen offensively with three goals and one assist for
four points. Senior Danielle Beaudry (West
Greenwich, RI)
had two
goals and freshman Leah Hayes (Coventry,
RI)
netted her
first collegiate goal in the win. Sophomore goalkeeper Micaela Morris
(Barrington,
RI)
made eight saves to improve her record to 3-0. |

Regina with two goals. Junior goalkeeper Brooke Bowley (Hollis,

made 15 saves and falls to 1-3 on the season. |
