RIC TIES PROGRAM RECORD FOR SINGLE SEASON WINS

Providence, RI—Sophomore Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI)
scored six goals and freshman Melissa Reggio (Commack, NY)
scored four times to lead Rhode Island College past Nichols College,
12-7, in collegiate women’s lacrosse action. RIC improves its record
to 7-4 on the season, tying the school record for the most wins in a
season. The Lady Bison fall to 1-12. |

Gavin had a
solid all-around game with six ground balls and four draw controls.
Reggio had four ground balls and four draw controls. Junior Crystal
Colagiovanni (Johnston,
RI)
and freshman Leah Hayes (Coventry,
RI)
also scored for RIC. Sophomore goalie Micaela Morris (Barrington,
RI)
made one save to earn the win. |

Freshman
Kristen Boreham (Canton,
MA)
was the main offensive threat for Nichols, scoring five of NC’s seven
goals. Freshmen Stephanie Tenczar (West
Springfield, MA)
and Jackie Henderson (Portsmouth,
RI)
tallied the
only other goals for the Lady Bison. Freshman goalie Erica Adams (Weymouth,
MA)
faced 31 shots on goal, making 19 stops in a losing effort. |
