ANCHORWOMEN REMAIN WINLESS IN LEC PLAY

Providence, RI—Western Connecticut State University improved to
4-8 overall and 3-2 in the Little East Conference with a 12-9 victory
over Rhode Island College on a rainy Saturday afternoon in Providence.
The Colonials came back from a 5-3 deficit late in the first half,
rattling off five unanswered goals in the final 4:04 to take the lead
for good. RIC falls to 7-5 overall and is still searching for its
first LEC win of the season. |

Junior
Ellie Champagne (Newtown, CT) came off the bench to score five
goals to lead WCSU in scoring. She added an assist for a six-point
afternoon. Senior Jillian Brown (Kings Park, NY) scored four
times to help pace the offense. Freshman Caitlin Everin
(Glastonbury, CT) had one goal and two assists for three points,
while sophomore Cuyler Rush (New Milford, CT) also tallied
three points with two goals and one helper. Junior goalie Melissa
Perry (Danbury, CT) made ten saves to improve her record to 4-8. |

Sophomore
Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) led RIC offensively with four
goals and one assist for five points. Freshman Melissa Reggio
(Commack, NY) had two goals and one assist. Freshman Krista
MacKinnon (Exeter, RI) had two goals and junior Crystal
Colagiovanni (Johnston, RI) scored once to round out RIC’s
offensive output. Sophomore goalie Micaela Morris (Barrington, RI)
made eight stops in a losing a record, dropping her record to 7-5. |
