Melissa Reggio Earns Little East
Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week Honors

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College freshman Melissa Reggio (Commack,
NY)
was named the Little East Conference Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the
Week for her performance in a 3-1 week for the Anchorwomen. |
|
|
|
Reggio had 13 goals and five assists for 18 points and notched
game-winning goals over Elms and Curry. For the season, Reggio has
played in 12 games, starting all of them. She has 41 points on 28
goals and a team-high 13 assists. Reggio has compiled 78 shots, 61 on
goal, 34 ground balls and 17 draw controls. |

She is a physical education/health major and a 2004 graduate of
Commack High School. |

|
|
Head Coach Ryan Angel’s team is 7-5 overall and 0-5 in the
Little East Conference. RIC’s seven wins are tied for the most in
program history. The Anchorwomen played four games last week, and won
three of them. RIC defeated Curry at home on Monday, Apr. 18, 16-12,
before going on the road and defeating Elms, 19-11, on Tuesday, Apr.
19. The Anchorwomen defeated Nichols at home, 12-7, on Thursday, Apr.
21, before having their three-game winning streak snapped with a,
12-9, loss to LEC foe Western Connecticut. |

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will close out the regular season,
playing two games this week. RIC will travel to St. Joseph’s (CT) on
Thursday, Apr. 28 for a 4 p.m. tilt. The Anchorwomen will then finish
the regular season at home, and host their annual Senior Day
ceremonies on Saturday, Apr. 30 when they will square off against LEC
opponent Eastern Connecticut at 1 p.m. |
