The Rhode Island College Department of Intercollegiate
Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation held its annual Winter Banquet
at RIC’s Donovan Dining Center on Tuesday, May 10 to honor those
student-athletes who participate in varsity spring athletics. Each
sport gave out their Most Valuable Player Award. |

Junior
Dana Skorupa (Cumberland,
RI)
was named
the women’s outdoor track and field team’s MVP. This spring,
Skorupa earned All-New England honors in both the 100 and 200 meters.
She placed fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 13.18. She placed
second in the 200 meters with a time of 26.20.
In other competition, Skorupa
earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in
four events. She placed second in the 100 meters, first in the 200
meters and sixth as part of the 4x100 meter relay with times of 12.72,
26.48 and 52.89, respectively, as well as third in the long jump with
a leap of 4.92 meters. In other competition this spring, Skorupa
placed third in the 100 meters and second in the 200 meters with times
of 13.08 and 27.35, respectively, as well as seventh in the long jump
with a leap of 4.77 meters at the Solomon Husky Invitational on Apr.
23. She placed sixth in both the 100 and 200 meters with times of
12.98 and 26.51, respectively, at the Albany Invitational on Apr. 16.
She placed first in both the 100 and 200 meters with times of 12.72
and 26.39, respectively, and fourth in the long jump with a leap of
15’09.00” at the Bryant Invitational on Apr. 9. Skorupa placed third
in the 100 meters and seventh in the long jump with results of 13.12
and 15’07.00”, respectively, at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 26. |
