Rhode Island College Announces
2004 Fall Sports MVPs
|

The Rhode Island College Department of Intercollegiate
Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation held its annual Fall Banquet at
RIC’s Donovan Dining Center on Monday, Dec. 6 to honor those
student-athletes who participate in varsity fall athletics. Each sport
gave out their Most Valuable Player Award. |

Men’s Soccer
|
|
Sophomore
forward Kyle Teixeira (Warren,
RI)
was named the men’s soccer team’s MVP for the second consecutive
season. He was named the Little East
Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in his
career and was selected First Team All-LEC for the third consecutive
season. He played in 20 games, starting all of them. He had 21 goals
and five assists for 47 points on the season. He broke Domenico
Petrarca’s ’78 27-year old record for career goals when he scored
his 21st goal of the season and the 63rd of his
career in the Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament
Semi-Final win over
Plymouth State (3-1). Teixeira also has 16 career assists, 142 career
points and trails Petrarca’s record for career points (147) by five
heading into next fall. |

physical education major and a 2002 graduate of Mt. Hope High School. |
