Anchormen
Notables |
|
•
Senior
forward Kyle Teixeira (Warren,
RI)
became Rhode Island College’s all-time leader in points in the
Anchormen’s, 3-1, win at M.I.T. on Saturday, Sept. 10. He came into
the contest trailing Domenico Petrarca’s ’77 all-time
point total of 147 by two. Teixeira tied the record with a goal in the
13th minute, took the all-time lead with an assist in the
29th minute and added a goal for extra measure in the 84th
minute. Teixeira, who broke Petrarca’s career goals record in ’04, is
RIC’s all-time leader with 66 career goals and 150 career points. His
18 career assists ranks sixth all-time.
For
his efforts, he has been named the Little East Conference’s Player of
the Week. |

Senior
defenseman Matt Borges (New Bedford, MA) and Teixeira have been
named team captains for the 2005 season. |

•
Sophomore
midfielder Julian Montoya (North Providence, RI), a transfer
from CCRI, scored his first goal as an Anchorman, notching the
game-winning tally in the, 3-1, win over M.I.T. on Sept. 10. |
|
•
The
Anchormen opened the 2005 season at the Flower City Tournament, hosted
by Rochester on Sept. 2 & 4. RIC dropped the opener, 1-0, to St. John
Fisher and fell in the consolation game, 3-2, to SUNY Oswego. |
